Parcel delivery by GLS

Fast and reliable – that is how you want to receive your parcel. And that’s precisely how GLS wants to deliver parcels on behalf of senders.

Standard parcel delivery
Standard parcel delivery

Ideally a parcel is delivered to you personally. You then confirm the parcel acceptance with your signature on the handheld scanner of the delivery driver. Another member of your household can also accept your parcel on your behalf.

If nobody is present
If nobody is present

The delivery driver asks a neighbour if they can accept the parcel for you. If no neighbour can accept your parcel, GLS will take it to the nearest ParcelShop – if there is one nearby. Domestic parcels can be collected there within the next five working days, international parcels within the next nine working days.

If parcel delivery is not possible – not even at a neighbour or a nearby GLS ParcelShop – GLS will take the parcel back to the depot (distribution centre) and will do a second delivery attempt the next working day.

On the notification card is a number, the "Track ID". You can use either this number or the parcel number to track your parcel and see the current parcel delivery status.

Second parcel delivery attempt

GLS will undertake a second delivery attempt if no neighbour is able to accept the parcel and there is no ParcelShop nearby. You can contact GLS directly by phone or via e-mail to specify details for the second delivery attempt.

Delivery times

It is important to know when to expect your parcel, which is why we try give you the closest timeframes possible.

Shipping within Northern Ireland is up to 4 days*.

International shipping can be expected from 2-7 days*.

GLS delivers parcels on working days from Monday to Friday – within the Republic of Ireland usually within 24 hours.

* Peak season will cause delays in the standard delivery times. This standard delivery time is not assured or guaranteed. Parcels are transported by road, so traffic holdups can lead to delays.
